Our direct client in Portland, OR. has a full time permanent PeopleSoft Developer (Principal level) position available. Is part of a collaborative, self-directed team that will support the Human Resources (HR) business functions of the company.

Summary: Leads analysis, development, testing, and documentation on new and/or enhancements to existing applications, web based interfaces, and B2B solutions for the business. Execute all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle. Ensure tasks conform to specifications/processes and standardized best practices. Regularly mentor and coach teammates.
Essential Functions:
Lead the review and analysis of business requirements and the design of solutions for new applications and web-based interfaces and/or enhancements or modification to existing applications and web based interfaces.
Develop work estimates for projects.
Update and edit functional and technical design specifications and solutions to satisfy project requirements for highly complex IT projects.
Identify and evaluate vendor software and integration strategies.
Ensure that applications and code are delivered to specification.
Identify and implement appropriate testing strategy.
Lead all steps required to deploy/implement the application solution.
Lead in a self-directed team environment. Collaborate with project team members and QA on development, customer issues, and security requirements.
Provide technical and design expertise to the project team regarding applications solutions and problem resolution.
Mentors and coaches teammates in business and technical knowledge, problem resolution, communication and adherence to Con-way and PeopleSoft standards and best practices, and group policies and procedures.
Lead code and design reviews and technical presentations to cross functional staff.
Proactively reviews My Oracle Support site for pertinent White papers, Red papers and Critical Bug fixes.
Provide 24/7 on-call rotational support of applications support to users including issue resolution. Accurately
repair
and document changes to applications as assigned.
Monitor system and application performance and troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues.

Works under guidelines and controls including Con-way corporate compliance. May develop technical standards and best practices.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelors degree in CS, MIS, or technical area generally required. Will accept any equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Technical certifications are desired. Leadership and project management training are beneficial. Masters degree is preferred.
10+ years of experience in IT systems design and development preferably in medium to large corporate environments including 5+ years in PeopleSoft development required, with broad range of technical PeopleSoft knowledge including: SQR, PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Application Designer, Component Interface, Integration Broker, Application Engine, Application Workflow Engine (AWE), XML Publisher, Process Scheduler and Query, and 2+ years experience with Oracle database and query performance monitoring, tuning, planning, and problem resolution.
Knowledge of PeopleSofts internet architecture a plus.
Experience in Stat, Taleo TCC and/or Tibco toolset desired.
Experience in mainframe application development skills including TSO, JCL, COBOL, Eztrieve, CA7, and IBM DB2 Tools/Utilities a plus.
Experience in PeopleSoft HCM application including Core HR, North American Payroll, Benefits Administration, Absence Management, and Self Service.
Broad, in-depth system knowledge and skills with the Enterprise adopted toolset.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in customer settings and with internal management. Strong active listening, facilitation and presentation skills.
Strong knowledge of human resources core HR, benefits, payroll, talent, learning, performance, and compensation systems and extensive knowledge of business principles.
Extensive knowledge of IT software development life cycle methodologies and processes.
In-depth project management skills. i.e. well-developed time management and prioritization skills.
Demonstrated broad analytical capabilities including highly complex technical problem solving. Exposure to managing customer expectations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain solid business relationships and work effectively with business and client contacts.
Demonstrated ability to participate effectively in a dynamic self-directed team environment.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership within the team and mentor and guide others to increase overall team capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to communicate business needs to technical people and to communicate and simplify complex technical information for non-technical people. Ability to travel occasionally,
